The length of the prescription you get from your doctor is dictated by the medical condition being treated. Review may be required every 1, 2, 3, 6 or 12 months, depending on the medical condition. The purpose of an appointment to renew medications is not simply to obtain a prescription; rather, it provides your doctor the opportunity to appropriately monitor your medical condition(s).
Opioids & Benzodiazepine Prescriptions: Only your family physician will refill opioid & benzodiazepine prescriptions, please ensure you book at least 1 week prior to running out.
Telephone & Faxed Prescriptions
Whether or not telephone or fax prescriptions are provided is at the discretion of your doctor. However, we strongly discourage this practice. It is in your best interest to book an appointment to renew your prescriptions. The best way to monitor your medical conditions is by seeing your doctor regularly.
A fee of $26.00 is charged for telephone prescription renewals.
